Fall is here. AMTA, the national massage therapy convention, is happening in Portland in October this year. Not sure if we are going to have a booth or not. And the Portland Marathon, which i usually do massages for. I have to be compassionate with my self. It's amazing how we've decided, as a culture, that being productive is the most important value a person can have.

Returned from New York City, where i got recertified as an instructor in Body Rolling. I also spent a week with my Mom at an assisted living facility. It was very educational to see what goes on in the world of geriatrics. Everyone uses a walker, which really affects their breathing, and their posture. Almost everyone is female. And the help is almost all from Latin and Central America. They are so wonderful with the ederly; I think it's part of their culture to respect elders.

.Sales way down, not sure why, the economy still seems to be weak. My Massage Therapist friends are still suffering from lack of clients.

Christmas season, lots of online consultations to find the right massager. Each case is different, depending on age, health, and symptoms. What's right for one person isn't necessarily going to be appreciated by another.

Oct. 26, 2010 - Back from a Body Tales Retreat at Salamander Retreat in the Santa Cruz mountains. I love this work. I plan on opening up a group in Portland soon.

Oct. 12, 2010 - I conducted a Soul Motion workshop in San Miguel Allende, Mexico.

About 15 years ago, my good friend Sky Yeager and I started a 5 Rhythyms "Sweat Your Prayers" class every Sunday morning at Bellas Artes in San Miguel. It's been going ever since. It was great to connect with that community again.

Sept. 26, 2010 - I was fortunate to have the opportunity to sing in the choir in performances of "Ordo Virtutum", Hildegard von Bingen's first composed morality play. I was in awe of the talent that was a part of this piece. We performed it at St. John the Baptist's Episcopal Church.

August 26, 2010 - Just finished the yearly depths retreat I do with Emily Conrad and Susan Harper. What a powerful affirmation of community and nourishing the soul through sound and movement.

July 27, 2010 - We get so many calls from people who are out of work and in pain, or who are working harder to make ends meet. I am so happy to be able to help in providing some calm and relaxation in the midst of the crisis we find ourselves in.

July 10 2010 - taught couples massage class at Portland Community College. I love these classes, it's wonderful to see people leave with a whole new skill level that they can use to give comfort and solace to one another.

July 5, 2010 - I've been using the Kneading Fingers unit I just started importing from Taiwan. I am very happy with the workmanship and quality control of products from Taiwan. And the country is beautiful, and rich in culture, and an appreciation for ideas and history.

March 17, 2010 - I've been using the Human Touch Massage Lounger more than usual recently. It's amazing. There are so many things happening at the same time, it's easy to get lost in the experience and not notice what is happening. In 15 minutes, the chair does what it would take a massage therapist 45 minutes to do.

We are so blessed to be able to take advantage of human technology. Dr. Gary London, a health researcher, says that if we can stay healthy for another 10 to 15 years, we will be able to live forever. Stem cell research and other technological breakthroughs will make it so we can just about replace all of ourselves with a synthetic breakthrough.
